ENVIRONMENT: A radio astronomy company is seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer to provide subject matter expertise to the Telescope Operations team. The role involves analyzing, developing, operating, and maintaining the Mid telescope astronomy pipelines and other data analysis products, such as QA matrices. Responsibilities include identifying, researching, and analyzing problem sets, investigating potential solutions, and implementing, testing, and verifying those solutions. Candidates should have a degree, master's, or PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology, or related applied/interdisciplinary sciences, experience in developing scientific software using Python and Python libraries or similar languages, and experience working with radio astronomy software packages, such as CASA and MeqTREES. DUTIES: Responsibilities: Design, develop, and enhance telescope data processing software and products. Document and test pipeline and data processing software. Support release deployments. Handle system incidents and support data processing pipelines. Engage in planning and continuous improvement activities. Provide senior-level operational support and guidance. Foster relationships with other teams and external bodies. Participate in telescope-wide integration activities. Represent data processing interests at international meetings. Adhere to organizational values, Code of Conduct, and safety procedures. REQUIREMENTS: Key Requirements: Qualifications: Degree/Master's/PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology, or related fields. Experience: Degree with 9 years, Master's with 7 years, or PhD with 5 years of relevant experience. Development, testing, deployment, commissioning, release, and support of scientific software or data analytics projects. Scientific software development using Python and relevant libraries. Experience with Radio astronomy software packages (e.g., CASA, MeqTREES). Knowledge: Radio astronomy data analysis, calibration, and imaging techniques. Radio Astronomy instrumentation and observatory practices. Data-driven astronomy research. Large science data curation, manipulation, transfer, management, and archival. System architecture concepts. Scaled agile methodologies and DevOps processes. Systems Engineering and systems delivery practices. Interdisciplinary and matrix team collaboration. Skills/Abilities: Strong quantitative research skills and scientific publication record. Radio Astronomy data and science product analysis. Radio Interferometer telescope scheduling, observation, and calibration techniques. Data cleansing and calibration techniques. Scientific software and pipeline development using Python. IT and information systems analysis, design, implementation, and operations. Agile systems development and DevOps processes. Data curation and IT service operations.
