Overview:To manage the Logistics function to achieve company objectives  Minimum Requirements:Grade 12Completed Diploma (NQF 6) or Degree (NQF 7) in either Technical or Commercial disciplinesExperience within a similar roleAutomotive manufacturing experience Advanced knowledge of Supply Chain Management Responsibilities:SHEQ:SHE:Conduct continuous Risk Assessments in the workplaceConduct Planned Task Observations in the workplaceIdentify potential hazards and critical safety issues in the workplaceAddress workplace hazards and risksApply safety, health and environmental practices and legal requirements when working on machines and equipmentQuality Management System:Manage and implement the Logistics Quality Assurance systemsImprove employees' awareness within the department of Quality Targets and ObjectivesNotify the Quality Department of any quality non-conformances which may lead to Customer complaints (Stock damage, packaging, etc.)Policies and Procedures:Initiate and approve Logistics Policies, Procedures, Protocols, Work Instructions, Codes of Practice, etc. Finance:Financial ManagementProvide input into the budget processMonitor performance against budget (expense controls, variances, etc.)Initiate requests for CAPEX/Disposal/TransfersParticipate in the Audit processAdhere to Financial Policies and ProceduresProtect company assets (working capital & fixed assets)Detect and prevent fraudPromote good Corporate Governance Customer:Customer Relations:Manage relationships with internal/external customersIdentify opportunities for improvements and make recommendationsSupplier Relations:Manage relationships with key suppliers (Transport, etc.)Conduct Supplier audits (with Procurement)Notify the Supplier of non-conformances and initiate corrective actions Process:Logistics Strategy:Assist with the development of the Logistics Strategic Plan (Supply Chain) and ensure implementationProvide Strategic and Change Leadership to the Logistics Function and Teams Logistics Planning:Plan Raw Materials requirements on a current and forecasted basis to meet production demandsManage Item Master Data (Order Multiples, Planning Periods, Lead Times, etc.) in order to optimise stock holding Logistics Management:Manage Logistics operationsObtain customer releaseCalculate material requirements based on future demandCreate Production PlanLoad Production orders into the systemControl internal transportationEnsure Outbound logistics is controlled and customer requirements are dispatched on timeDevelop/activate the MRP systemOptimise the use of the delivery vehicles by ensuring On time in full (OTIF)Monitor Engineering changes and plan run-in and run-out programmesManage Raw Materials and Finished Product stocksProcess and control Logistics documentation Continuous Improvement:Benchmark Logistics processes against Best PracticesKeep up to date with the latest trends/developments in Logistics Management and adopt Best PracticesIdentify opportunities for process/systems improvementsImplement Best Business Practices and PrinciplesParticipate in productivity improvement initiatives with suppliers Reporting:Analyse and interpret Logistics Reports and statistical data People:People Management:Ensure an enabling climate/cultureManage individual, team and departmental performance to achieve organisational objectivesManage labour stability and complement in line with the budgetParticipate in the implementation and utilisation of equity-related processesAchieve HDSA/Female targets for the DepartmentObtain approval for and recruit and select employees in the area of responsibilityPlan, organise and monitor work in own area of responsibilityCompile and update Performance Contracts and Individual Development Plans and facilitate individual career path planningDetermine the training needs of the DepartmentConduct Performance Reviews and manage sub-standard performanceCoach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levelsEnsure discipline is maintained in the department (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.) Essential Competencies:MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)Operating computer systemsApply strategic road transport management principlesAdvanced knowledge of Supply Chain ManagementQuality (ISO)
