A vacancy exists in the department for a contract Lecturer to teach Statistics in the Extended Curriculum Programme. This position may be renewed based on continued funding. In addition to teaching responsibilities, involvement in research activities is encouraged.
Key Responsibilities: Facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Statistics/Data ScienceConduct research and publish on topics related to Statistics/Data ScienceUndertake undergraduate and/or postgraduate supervisionUndertake curriculum development and assessmentEngage with the community/industry and conduct outreachMinimum Requirements: MSc in Statistics, Data Science, or Mathematical StatisticsDemonstrated teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in Statistics or Data ScienceProven expertise in applying complex statistical and data science techniques using statistical packages such as SAS, R, and/or PythonAdvantageous Criteria: Currently registered for a PhD in Statistics, Data Science, or Mathematical StatisticsA record of successful postgraduate supervision at the honours levelA record of quality peer-reviewed publications in Statistics, Applied Statistics, or Data ScienceAdaptability and ability to operate in a diverse environmentStudent-focused approachInterest in supervising postgraduate level industry-directed researchPlanning and organizing skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills in EnglishPresentation and facilitation skillsKnowledge and skills in learning and teaching, research and scholarship, and community engagementIn your application, please highlight your strengths and include a cover letter, a detailed curriculum vitae with contact details of three referees, and your highest qualification.
