Key ResponsibilitiesCommission new instrumentation and testing methods.Manage instrument repairs, servicing, and calibration, ensuring safety and quality are maintained.Test all incoming raw materials and additives (bulk/drum stocks) to verify they meet specifications.Amend and formulate new blends to meet Pharmacopoeia and specific customer requirements.Develop and execute laboratory test methods.Ensure all products meet relevant specifications and manage non-conforming batches to bring final products within specification.Capture data and results in the LIMS system, and generate & release Certificates of Analysis.Investigate and document causes for failures and customer complaints, recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Conduct analytical tests accurately, correlate data, ensure data reliability, and perform trend analyses to ensure ongoing compliance.Prepare and standardise reagents and test methods to ensure efficient and reliable results.Maintain accurate and up-to-date specification methods, standards, and legislative documentation.Participate in and conduct SHEQ and 6S audits.Engage in investigations regarding customer complaints and errors, and update FMIS systems effectively.Maintain quality at third-party sites.Work shifts as required by the Lab department.Liaise with service providers for ordering new supplies and equipment calibration to ensure safety and quality Skills, Knowledge and ExperienceNational Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent.Minimum of 3 years of relevant petrochemical experience in a Laboratory Technician role.Proficiency in LIMS and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Competence in understanding and applying ISO standards, following Standard Operating Procedures, and associated legislation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and reporting skills.Strong team ethic.Ability to operate effectively under pressure and manage multiple and changing priorities.
