RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensuring all operational processes and procedures are strictly followed
Identify the exact quality and specification of the commodity purchased
Enforce quality control standards/measures as per guidelines received from management during production and when dispatching material
Inspect all loads before release to customer for final quality check
Identify and ensure that upgrades are sorted out and record is kept
Maintain good customer relations and ensure customer satisfaction
Identify and report fraudulent transactions
Reject nonmetallic items and inferior quality metals
Ensure records are updated and reconciled accurately for all items purchased and dispatched
Ensure Company policies and procedures & Health & Safety regulations are adhered to
Lead and supervise a team in order to achieve operational and goal orientated requirements
Train and coach supervisors, operators and sorters according to best practices
Oversee production processes and meet daily production targets as set outlined
Monitor productivity rates, standards and quality control during the production stages
Plan production daily according to requirements and liaise with stores for consumables and PPE
Ensure that assistants thoroughly inspect scrap to be purchased and display all metals openly for photographing
Ensure that the requirements of the Second-hand Goods Act are complied with when buying scrap by accurately recording all information required under the Act
Disciplinary action and daily management of staff.
Plant and equipment are maintained as per the maintenance schedule.
Communicate with engineering dept. for scheduling repair work on machinery
Ensure that vehicles are loaded as per the permissible maximum combination mass (axle weighing) before release.
Ensures that tasks are delegated to the different staff members within the department.
Ensure that employees are properly trained and licensed for the machinery/equipment that they operate.
Ensure that all production staff members wear the correct and required PPE at all times.
Estimate stockpiles for stock taking
Report daily production plan vs. final figures
QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
5 years' experience in a Supervisory position.
A minimum of at least 5 years' experience in a production industry.
Computer literate - full Microsoft suite.
Must be conversant with the Second-hand Goods Act.
Good knowledge of H&S regulations.
Scrap metal experience will be an advantage.
