Junior Factory Supervisor

Requirements:Supervise the operation and production of the PTH Shopper Bag section and ensure the required efficiency to accepted quality standards and productivity targets are met.Factory Supervisors are responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and executing daily tasks in line with the production schedule.Supervision of departmental personnel and allocation of labour resources in line with the weekly production schedule.Ensure machines are running to specification speed and daily production targets are being achieved.Ensure adherence to the production plan and that pre-make ready is done timeously.Promote safe working practices and ensure all plant rules are adhered to.Report any unsafe machine or workplace practice immediately to the Line Manager.Set up departmental machines, within specified set-up times and to standard waste levels.Assist machine operators and minders with trouble-shooting and fine-tuning of machines to achieve required speeds and quality standards.Coordinate the cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining of machines, tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions, to achieve maximum output and minimal waste.Ensure production housekeeping standards are achieved and maintained.Report any mechanical/electrical breakdown to the Maintenance Department immediately.Matric/Grade 12.Bag Maker Trade / Fitter and Turner trade with 5 years post-trade manufacturing experience.Any tertiary qualification in a related field will be considered an advantage.Previous experience in a supervisory capacity.Previous experience in the set-up, operation and troubleshooting of PTH Shopper Bag machines including inline printing, etc.Able-bodied and capable of physical work.Capable of understanding and implementing product quality standards, packing specifications and safety standards.Demonstrated people and leadership skills.Understanding the business profitability and key measures.Sort, select, and stack materials, and products and reject defects following specified instructions and standards when required.Add/adjust chemicals, solutions, and inks to machines and equipment to ensure the manufacturing process meets the specification.Able to work overtime when required.Conduct training and development of departmental personnel.Investigate and present improvements to processes and productivity.Checks and analyse daily production and downtime and completes a daily report.Issue tools at the commencement of the shift and check-in tools at the completion of the shift, using the tooling checklist.Clean machine as required and as per the cleaning checklist.Maintain housekeeping standards in the machine area.Assist in the operation of other machines as directed by management.Work with packers and assist in packing as required.Work overtime and weekends as directed by management.Completion and filing of all documentation relating to BRC, safety and training.
