Overview:
The Technical Buyer role will be responsible for tactical sourcing and procurement efforts relating to global spend categories of Information Technology (i.e., hardware, software, data center, cloud, networking, consulting services etc.) to secure optimal opportunities that deliver value, drive savings, increase efficiencies, secure supply, mitigate sourcing risks with defined and measurable SLAs, all underpinned by internal governance and compliance policies.
The successful candidate will need to be a strategic thinker with business acumen who can quickly understand complex business operating models. This role will be required to develop working relationships with key stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams in executing the strategic sourcing strategy for Enterprise Systems.
Responsibilities:
The Technical Buyer is responsible for the acquisition of IT-related goods (including hardware and software) and services for the company. They ensure that the items and services are purchased from specified suppliers and are delivered according to agreed terms and conditions. This role is crucial in maintaining the quality and efficiency of the company's operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchase Order Management:
Raise and issue purchase orders for goods and services.
Ensure that all purchases comply with company policies and procedures.
Monitor and track deliveries and confirm order status with suppliers.
Cost Management:
Work closely with the finance department to manage budgets and costs.
Seek cost-saving opportunities and negotiate discounts.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure that all purchased items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
Coordinate with the quality assurance team to address any issues with purchased items.
Market Analysis:
Stay informed about market trends and product availability.
Evaluate market conditions to make informed purchasing decisions.
The IT Technical Buyer will:
Engage with suppliers for quotes for IT related products and services.
Ensure accuracy of quotations.
Load workflows for approval of selected quotes for the purpose of raising a purchase order.
Share purchase orders with vendors and expedite delivery of items.
Follow workflow procedures to ensure maximum efficiency.
Negotiate pricing with vendors.
Track and report on savings achieved.
Effectively deal with conflict inherent in procurement operations between suppliers and stakeholders.
Engage closely with Legal and Data Protection to ensure that terms and conditions are aligned with current legislation and policy.
Partner and collaborate with key stakeholder groups such as Finance, DPO, Legal, Internal Controls (audit) and Risk & Compliance.
Engage with strategic suppliers in order to foster, maintain and grow relationships.
Promote the rationalization and optimization of suppliers.
Ensure business continuity by completing contract and license renewals on time and ahead of expiry dates.

Qualifications:
Diploma/ Degree in business administration or relevant field.
At least 3 years proven experience as a technical (IT) buyer in a similar role.
Knowledge of basic office management systems and procedures.
Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Excellent attention to detail.
Reliable with patience and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the technology industry.
Certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g. CIPS).
