Introduction
Bureau Veritas South Africa is recruiting an IPE/QA QC SPECIALIST INSPECTOR on an Intermittent Contract based in Richards Bay. The Supply of relevant Quality Inspection resources for the mechanical erection of CFB Boiler to work for and on behalf of Client Project Quality team. The construction activities shall be at Richards Bay, KZN. Supplier must provide QC resources who will report to SITE Project Quality Management as per mandated herein.
Minimum Requirements
Valid SAIW Inspector of Pressure Vessels (IPE) Certification
Boiler Experience is a requirement.
Minimum 10 years of experience
Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule
Proficient in Microsoft 365
Proficiency in both Written and spoken English
Very good Communication and Listening skills
Experience of working internationally and/or in a multi-cultural environment
Job Specification
Duties and Responsibilities
Inspection of materials at project stores
Inspection of materials
Dimensional inspections
Inspection of mechanical and construction activities
Inspection of welding related activities
Ensure that the contractor/manufacturer complies with relevant Design Codes and standards as indicated on the Design Drawings.
Perform all Inspection functions in a professional manner – including checking or verification of design calculations (if required).
Welding inspection and welder qualification reviews.
Attend to all ITP intervention points for and on behalf of Mondi.
Utilize competent personnel with technical skill sets that are commensurate with the unique skill set requirements of the assignment instruction.
Compile a full report of the progress and state of equipment as required by the Project Engineering Manager and Project Quality Manager.
Ensure that the manufacturer performs the manufacturing activities in a safe and timely manner.
Ensure that surface treatment and corrosion protection is undertaken as per approved specification.
Review inspection and test reports for compliance.
Witness pressure tests.
Update on progress of site welding/installation activities.
QC Inspector is required to undertake:
Non-conformance reports

Dimensional
Welding quality
Fit-up quality.
Straightness checks
Traceability
Welding procedures and welder qualifications
Welding parameters and essential variables
Heat treatment variables.
Non-destructive examination (volumetric and surface)
Final Inspections
Dimensional check
Surface check after sandblasting
Welding quality before painting
Tolerances
Environmental (humidity, temperature, etc.) before painting
Check corrosion protection (painting) and confirm thickness, layers, and finish according to procedures
Sign-off of Quality Documentation and Release Notes.
