Brief DescriptionPurpose: The main purpose of the job is to assist the university to implement evidence-informed projects and to conduct research on projects in order to increase the evidence knowledge base and improve data usage and information for evidence-informed projects in higher education.The incumbent is expected to conceptualise, coordinate, conduct and manage all assigned projects (research, evidence-based practice reviews, policy analysis) using various appropriate methodologies (qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods).This includes producing research design frameworks, conducting research and producing research reports that are informed by scientific principles.Incumbent is required to have a knowledge of the higher education landscape and the university structures in order to support the reporting, analysis and data visualisation requirements with careful attention to data quality and data accuracy.Key responsibilities: 1)Conduct evidence-based research (qualitative/ quantitative and/or mixed methods) ·Produce research design frameworks.·Conduct literature reviews.·Conceptualize, coordinate, conduct and manage research and evidence-based studies 2)Development of research protocols, ethics applications, data gathering and analysis and report writing ·Compilation of research protocols.·Formulation of ethics applications and securing of ethics approval for evidence-based projects.·Devise and use instruments to collect data on implemented projects.·Data mining (where applicable).·Data analysis.·Identify issues and challenges related to projects and propose modifications and additions.3)Provide appropriate evidence-informed analytics to support projects ·Data modeling and testing ·Data analysis ·Statistics ·Interpretation ·Data mining ·Dashboards and portals Evidence-based studies 4)Compile reports and dashboards for reporting purposes ·Develop dashboards and reports to support evidence-based decision-making.·Conduct external evidence-based comparisons and strategic benchmarking to provide an understanding of how activities and challenges inform Wits' position in relation to the external environment.·Based on evidence, provide a systemic assessment of projects to determine areas that need enhancement, streamlining and consolidation.·Conduct analysis of project in order to improve and identify lessons learnt.·Ensure that appropriate meta data and data dictionary resources are in place to facilitate interpretation.·Write quarterly reports to provide evidence-based insights into the implementation of projects and identify what is and is not working well.·Present reports where applicable.5)Present research findings 6)Mentoring and training of internal staff 7)Other duties as required and assigned Minimum Requirements: ·Masters Qualification (NQF Level 9).·3 years' relevant experience Desirable Requirements: At least 3 years of working experience in a higher education research or corporate research environment.Enquiries: Dr. Raazia Moosa Detailed DescriptionJob RequirementsAdditional Details
