Job Title:HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER Our client based in the Pietermaritzburg area is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Manager.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe working environment for employees and other stakeholders by developing, implementing, and enhancing health and safety plans, programs, and procedures in the workplace.
RequirementsPrevious experience as a Safety Officer/Manager or similar roleExcellent knowledge of legislation and proceduresExcellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practicesExperience in producing reportsExperience with writing policies and procedures for health and safetyFamiliarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statisticsProficient in MS OfficeWorking knowledge of safety management information systemOutstanding organizational skillsCritical thinker and problem-solving skillsTeam playerGood time-management skillsGreat interpersonal and communication skillsBSc/BA in safety management or similar fieldValid Certificate in occupational health and safety  Responsibilities:Plan and implement OHS policies and programsAssists in carrying out inspections of workplaces and takes necessary action to ensure compliance i.e.
ensure all safety boxes are stocked and ready for useEnsuring compliance of relevant health and safety legislationAdvise and lead employees on various safety-related topicsReview existing policies and proceduresAssists in responding to and investigating concerns/complaints from workers/employers and assists in taking appropriate action.Assists in investigating accidents or injuries that occur in the workplaceConduct safety inspections and risk assessmentsEnforce preventative measuresIdentify process bottlenecks and offer timely solutionsWork with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safetyAssists in the establishment of workplace safety and health committees i.e.
check if all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulationsAssists in the delivery of related educational programs and disseminates information to the public.Assists in the training and/or supervision of new inspectors (identify OHS-related training needs in the workplace)Ensure that all annual medicals, license renewals are up to dateAssists in carrying out industrial hygiene surveys using technical equipment, evaluates results, and takes appropriate actionAssists in the preparation of various reports, documents and forms.Is responsible for the workplace safety and health operations in a specified region.Performs other related duties as assigned by Manager/DirectorIf you meet all of the above, please apply directly here.
