QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCENational Diploma in Health and Safety Management5-10 years' experience in a high-risk manufacturing environmentISO management systemsComputer literacySAMTRAC/NEBOSH IGCHIRA & Legal LiabilityIncident investigationFirst Aid L2Own vehicleMAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITYMaintain, implement and revise company policies and operational proceduresEnsure that emergency response plans are aligned with business risks, employees are trained, and that the plan is effectively implementedSchedule and participate in departmental evacuation drills, ensure that roll calls are conducted and prepare post-mortem drill reportsMaintain and schedule the servicing of the facility fire equipmentSchedule and perform regular internal audits to measure performanceSchedule inspections and close-out report findings where requiredMaintain weekly testing of the sprinkler system and schedule the servicing of equipmentLead incident investigations and log IOD claims with the DOL/Compensation CommissionerPerform, participate and lead the risk assessment process for all operationsPreparation, implementation and revision of safe work procedures for all operationsPrepare and participate in weekly departmental TBT'sImplement and maintain an up to date legal register and implement a legal trackerWorking closely with the OHNP and assist in arranging personnel for Annual MedicalsSchedule and attend monthly H&S committee meetings and ensure a 50/50 representation between management and OHS RepsMaintain up to date legal organogram and ensure all legal appointments are up to dateImplement and maintain equipment and facility inspections and ensure registers are keptSchedule required Occupational Hygiene Surveys and review findings with managementImplement and maintain a near miss and hazard identification reporting system and report monthly on behaviours and actionsArrange and conduct HSE induction for visitors, contractors, service providers, new employees and annual induction for employeesOrder and issue PPE to employees and maintain an up to date PPE issue registerCompile monthly HSE reports and presentationsMonitor and analyse HSE trends and data including the facility DIFRMaintain an up to date register for hazardous chemical substances and facilitate the training of employees with relevant MSDSEnsure relevant MSDS's are available in the departments of useMaintain up to date training matrix and schedule recertification for certificates expiringImplement and maintain regular housekeeping inspections for all departmentsManage all contractors, cleaners and service providers and ensure 37.2 Mandatory Agreements are current and in placeEnsure that the facility and service providers LOG is current and up to dateMaintain an up to date waste register with waste manifests and safe disposal certificates and ensure safe disposal of all identified waste streamsSchedule monthly meetings with the security service provider and ensure minutes are keptMaintain and revise security site instructions in line with business risk and ensure all security personnel are trainedMaintain an onsite security file with required security personnel informationJOB COMPETENCIES/ ATTRIBUTES/SKILLSMust reside in Cape Town or surrounding areas.Must be available to attend to safety and security incidents after hours.Good self-management and interpersonal skills.Must have excellent knowledge of the OHS Act and regulations and be able to apply practically.Good verbal and written communication skills.Energetic, results driven with proven ability to make things happen.Sound knowledge of risks.Desired Skills:Health and SafetyIncident InvestigationRisk ManagementComputer Literacy
