We are currently looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant on a one year fixed term contract in our Financial and Regulatory Reporting unit (the FRR). The FRR is responsible for all internal and external reporting to Group companies as well as industry regulators and is also responsible for expense management and analysis. The unit reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.The team is made up of a diverse and experienced group of Chartered Accountants passionate about quality and excellence in delivery. All members work closely together as one team and rotate tasks between them to ensure exposure and experience in all aspects is gained by each team member. This position reports into the Operational Manager for Reinsurance Controlling.Your role will be part of the financial and regulatory reporting team, responsible for the completion/submission of and assistance with:Monthly, quarterly and annual submissions to the Prudential Authority and SARB under IFRS 17IFRS 17 Group reporting of quarterly numbers including actuals and forecastPreparation of actual, forecast and planning trial balances under IFRS 17Quarterly analysis of IFRS 17 trial balanceBoard and audit committee presentation preparationPreparation of the AFS - IFRS 17Co-ordination of quarterly analysis and reconciliation of FPSL data for IFRS 17 reporting purposesAssistance with the audit and various audit queriesYour profile:Minimum two years post Qualified CA (SA)Experience in insurance/reinsurance accounting environmentIFRS 17 experience highly advantageousExperience working with FPSL highly advantageousFinance related degree/diploma with work experienceExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsVery strong excel skillsAbility to work under pressureQuick learner and able to work independentlyAt Munich Re, we embrace and value the interaction of diverse backgrounds, experiences, perspectives and thought.
