Mechanical Design Engineer
We are looking to employ a mechanical design engineer who has a strong aptitude and passion for creative machine design and who is attentive to detail and enjoys technical challenges.
The successful candidate must have:
Matric + a tertiary qualification such as an Advanced National Diploma or B Tech – Mechanical Engineer.
3 – 5 years work experience in mechanical machine design/drafting.
Experience in performing thermodynamic process design calculations would be an advantage.
Strong mechanical insights.
Experience in machine design with the ability to produce accurate, high quality & quantity drawings.
Experience in a manufacturing environment would be an advantage.
Experience in working on 3D CAD packages, CREO would be preferable.
The primary responsibilities would include:
Contribute to the conceptual & detailed design of equipment in the food processing & packaging environment.
Compile CAD models for assemblies, parts & drawings using primarily CREO 3D CAD, Auto-CAD, MS Excel, etc.
Design calculations to meet the machine specifications.
Producing accurate drawings for machining and manufacturing of components.
Produce Bills of Material, etc. for manufacturing and procurement.
Consult and liaise with engineering team, production, sales, customers and suppliers.
Conducting concept and design reviews.
Perform Back Engineering on existing parts and drawings as required per Engineering Change Requests (ECR).
Investigation of requirements of projects and designs.
Prepare technical reports and presentations.
Take responsibility for tasks assigned to you from the start to the point of delivery.
Be willing to travel for work purposes if so required.
Be willing to work overtime to meet project deadlines.
