Our client in conjunction with Key Recruitment is searching for an Energy Policy Specialist:Outline DescriptionThe Energy Policy Specialist will play a pivotal role in guiding the business's strategy for policy development and compliance within our client's dynamic energy industry.
With the recent changes brought about by the agreed energy strategy, this role is integral to ensuring the organisation navigates evolving regulatory landscapes and industry trends effectively.Please note: This is a 1-year fixed contract.Stakeholder Management will be key.Key Internal Relationships:Head of Risk & Compliance: Serve as a liaison for policy alignment with overall risk management strategies.Head of Customer Experience: Collaborate on customer-centric policy initiatives to enhance service delivery.Cross-functional teams involved in policy development: Work closely with legal, regulatory, and operational teams to identify gaps and align policies with business objectives.Senior management team: Provide updates and insights on policy developments and compliance efforts to inform strategic decision-making.
External: Regulatory bodies: Build relationships and stay ahead of regulatory changes affecting the energy sector.
Industry associations: Participate in industry forums, leveraging best practices and benchmarks to inform policy development.
Stakeholders within the energy sector: Collaborate with partners, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and consensus on policy matters.Key External Relationships:Regulatory bodies: Build relationships and stay ahead of regulatory changes affecting the energy sector.Industry associations: Participate in industry forums, leveraging best practices and benchmarks to inform policy development.Stakeholders within the energy sector: Collaborate with partners, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and consensus on policy mattersPrinciple Responsibility and AccountabilityStrategy:Collaborate with senior leadership and management to develop a comprehensive strategy for policy development and compliance in response to the evolving energy landscape.Monitor and analyse legislative and regulatory developments, providing strategic recommendations to mitigate risks.Develop and maintain a roadmap for policy initiatives aligned with the business's long-term goals and objectives.Service Enhancement:Conduct in-depth research on various topics related to energy policy, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
This includes reviewing the code of practice and business terms and conditions.Prepare reports, briefing materials to effectively convey insights and recommendations to stakeholders.Advise internal teams on compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards, ensuring alignment with best practices and benchmarks.Service Delivery:Provide training and support to internal teams on the interpretation and implementation of energy-related laws and regulations, fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.Quality:Ensure accuracy, clarity, and quality in all written materials and communications, adhering to established standards and guidelines.Develop and maintain databases to track policy developments over time, to improve compliance monitoring.Perform administrative tasks as needed to support policy development and implementation, including scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, and maintaining documentation.
Key Skills and Attributes:Exceptional analytical and research skills, with the ability to identify trends, analyse data, and develop actionable insights.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a high degree of initiative and adaptability.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with experience in data analysis and presentation.Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks.In-depth knowledge of the energy industry and related policies, regulations, and market dynamics.Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in policy analysis, research, or writing, preferably in the energy sector or related field.
Remuneration:Between R40 000 and R80 000, Cost to Company based on experience.
