The position will report to the Lifting Supervisor .
and is based in Dunnottar.
Job Purpose To conduct rigging practices in accordance with legislative safety standards and job requirements.
This includes the inspection, selection and use of slings and lifting tackle to safely lift, move Car Body Shells, load CBS Jigs and stack buffer.
Key Responsibilities Apply the recognized methods for inspecting & recording the operational fitness of all components of the crane.
Operate a pendant controlled crane.
Demonstrate knowledge of the functions of a crane.
Identify the safety and suitability of the crane type prior to utilization.
Inspect and record the operational fitness of the components of a crane.
Operate an overhead crane in a safe and competent manner.
Access available support systems and emergency services in case of incidents and accidents.
Direct crane operations Convey load by means of lifting equipment Communicate during crane operations.
Ensure that all safety features and warning devices on the crane are all working prior utilization and use them during operation.
Use controls to manoeuvre the crane within manufacturer's specifications to reduce load swings and related safety hazards.
Operate crane without risk of damage, loss to crane, property, or injury to people.
Ensure that the crane is stowed according to manufacturers and company/works requirements Ensure that start-up and shutdown procedures are followed according to manufacturer's manual Ensure that the handling and storage of the load is in accordance to the Gibela working instructions.
Performs machinery pre-check and post- operational checklist.
Assess operational capability of liftin equipment (e.g.
correct SWL of slings etc).
Minimum Requirements Grade12 Overhead Crane Operations- Code C30, Tandem Lifting, 15 Ton and above English fluent Minimum 1.5 years of experience post qualification Relevant experience and/or similar environment Desired Knowledge and Behavioural competency: General knowledge for understanding rigger signal Working knowledge of Health & Safety standards Clearly understanding of lifting communication procedures or protocols Identify and solve problems that might prevent lifting activities Good Communication and writing skills Safety awareness Reporting skills Production Environment Awareness Flexible and Adaptable.
Can adapt to new ideas and situations Meets proposed deadlines with ability to work under pressure Effective teamwork Special Requirements To carry out technical support and maintenance on 24/7 shift & on-call basis (night, day, weekend).
