Consulting/Principal Software Engineer
About the Role The Consulting Software Engineer role is a hands-on full-stack developer. This role will become a subject matter expert for the South African team and help influence its expansion in becoming an innovation technology hub. In addition to writing code on complex systems and applications, this position actively participates in planning, discovery, and design.
Responsibilities Acting as an acknowledged 'go to' person on coding and technical issues, for both internal and external contacts.Interfacing with other personnel or team members to identify solutions to customer problems.Completing complex bug fixes and resolving technical issues.Mentoring and coaching other Software Engineers and ensuring they are knowledgeable in critical aspects of the role.Contributing new ideas and encouraging the same from others to foster innovation.Requirements Have a BS degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience.Be able to demonstrate excellent organizational skills when dealing with multiple priorities, able to delegate effectively.Have substantial Software Development experience.Languages and tools like the following: JavaScript, React or Angular, C# or Java, SQL, NoSQL, Linux, AWS.Expertise with various database systems, the development of micro-services, optimization, and industry best practices.Have an excellent understanding of data modelling principles, data manipulation languages, and storage systems.Have experience in partnering with and leading internal and external technology resources to solve business needs.Successful track record with event-based systems using Kafka, SQS, or similar.History of creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.Ability to identify technical improvements, pitch ideas to the team, and follow through with implementation.Have excellent communication skills and the ability to convey information clearly to a wide audience.Work in a way that works for you We promote a healthy work/life balance across the organization.
