Fabrication and InstallationRead and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.Cut, shape, and weld metal components to create boiler parts and large structures.Install boilers and other large metal structures at mining sites.Maintenance and RepairInspect existing boilers and metal structures for signs of wear, corrosion, or other damage.Perform regular maintenance to ensure efficient and safe operation.Repair or replace damaged parts using welding, bolting, and riveting techniques.Safety and ComplianceFollow safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.Ensure all work complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure a safe working environment.Collaboration and CommunicationWork closely with engineers, supervisors, and other tradespeople to complete projects.Communicate effectively to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.Provide input on the best materials and methods for construction and repair tasks.Quality ControlTest completed boilers and metal structures to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.Document work performed and maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.Required Skills and QualificationsTechnical SkillsProficiency in welding, metal fabrication, and the use of related tools and equipment.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to boiler construction and maintenance.Physical FitnessAbility to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces or at heights.Stamina to perform physically demanding tasks over long periods.Experience and EducationCompletion of an apprenticeship or vocational training program in boilermaking or a related field.Previous experience working as a boilermaker, especially in the mining industry, is highly desirable.Safety ConsciousnessStrong understanding of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.Working ConditionsEnvironment: Work is typically performed at mining sites, which can be remote and involve exposure to outdoor elements and potentially hazardous conditions.Schedule: May involve long hours, shift work, and overtime, depending on project deadlines and maintenance needs.Risks: The job involves working with heavy machinery and tools, as well as exposure to extreme temperatures and loud noise, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols.
