We are seeking a dedicated and experienced
Assistant Lodge Manager
to join our team at a prestigious 5-star game lodge in the heart of Hluhluwe. This role supports the Lodge Manager in delivering exceptional guest experiences while ensuring smooth operational management. Key Responsibilities:
Guest Experience:
Welcome guests and ensure their needs are met with personalized attention.
Oversee dining, game drives, and other guest experiences to maintain high service standards.
Handle guest feedback and resolve complaints efficiently to enhance satisfaction.
Operations Management:
Support the Lodge Manager in day-to-day operations, including front office, housekeeping, and food & beverage departments.
Supervise staff schedules and ensure operational coverage at all times.
Monitor the lodge's appearance, cleanliness, and maintenance standards.
Staff Management:
Assist with recruitment, training, and performance evaluations of lodge staff.
Foster a positive team culture and ensure adherence to lodge policies and procedures.
Lead by example and motivate the team to exceed guest expectations.
Financial Oversight:
Assist in budget management and cost control for lodge operations.
Oversee stock levels for supplies, food, and beverages.
Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, including accurate record-keeping and reporting.
Sustainability and Community Engagement:
Support initiatives for conservation and eco-friendly operations.
Foster relationships with the local community to promote responsible tourism.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field.
Experience:
At least 3-5 years in luxury lodge management or similar roles within 4- or 5-star properties.
Previous experience in a safari/game lodge environment is highly advantageous.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in property management systems (e.g., Opera, Protel) and MS Office.
Understanding of logistics and operations unique to remote settings.
Interpersonal Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
Languages:
Fluency in English; knowledge of Zulu or other local languages is an asset.
Other Requirements:
A valid driver's license and First Aid certification are advantageous.
