Full job description

PURPOSE

This position exists to assist Artisans (Boilermaker & Fitter and Turners) to whom they are allocated to with daily maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety

Ensure conformity to SHEQ standards, policies and procedures

Perform general housekeeping duties including cleaning of workshop machinery and equipment

Ensure safekeeping of tools

Maintenance

Support the Artisan in participating and executing predictive and preventive maintenance activities

Assist Artisan in documenting maintenance work in the designated database

Assist the Artisan in repairing and assembling various types of machines and equipment

Assist the Artisan in stripping various machinery by using various types of tools disassembling components

Clean dirty parts and cleaning components as per Artisan instructions

Complete tasks per issued job cards

Inspection and reporting

Perform daily inspections of all equipment/tools and give feedback

Report all faults and problems to Artisan

Perform ad hoc tasks as and when required

QUALIFICATIONS

National Senior Certificate (NSC) / N3 Certificate engineering subjects [50% Maths & Science (NSC); 50% Maths & Science (N3)]

EXPERIENCE

2 – 4 years' experience as an Engineering Assistant (Artisan Assistance) in Mining or construction

Basic hand tools experience

SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Willing to work overtime/weekends as operationally required

High commitment to comply with the SHEQ regulations and requirements of the organisation and client

Knowledge of hydraulics, lubrication, mechanical seals, assembly, disassembly, alignment and all activities involved in maintenance

Fitness certification
