Details of the offer

About MRS Independent Living
We have been working since 1986 towards a society where everyone has a sense of control over their lives and the ability to stay independent, active and connected to the world around them.
Our mission is to provide practical help so that people who need support can live safely and well in their homes and communities. We work primarily with older people, people with disabilities and people confronting mental health challenges.
About the role
This role will work across two services: Our existing Home Adaptations service in Islington, and our new handyperson service covering Islington, Hackney and surrounding boroughs in North East London, which we will be trialling via a small-scale pilot in 2024/25.
Our Islington Adaptations service carries out work requested by London Borough of Islington's Occupational Therapy team to support older people and people with disabilities to live safely and well in their own homes. Our Trusted Assessors assess people's needs, provide minor home adaptations such as grab rails and stair rails, and supply and fit disability aids. The postholder will have the opportunity to train as a trusted assessor once settled in the role.
This role will also deliver the new handyperson service which MRS will be piloting on a small-scale before a decision is made as to a wider roll-out. The role will carry out simple practical tasks that enable people to maintain dignity and independence at home, such as installing key safes, putting up curtain poles/rails, moving furniture, fitting shelves etc.
Following initial training, the postholder will mostly work independently in the community, but with ongoing support and supervision from the Senior Trusted Assessor and Adaptations Fitter.
